FDNY to Distribute Free Smoke Alarm Batteries

fdnyIt’s that time of year again!

When you change your clocks for Daylight Saving Time on Nov. 7, the FDNY reminds you to also change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

The FDNY wants to help, so members of our Fire Safety Education Unit will be distributing 9-volt batteries in locations throughout the five boroughs from Nov. 5 to 7. (Special thanks to the FDNY Foundation for donating the batteries!)

FDNY's CPR Training Program

I thought this may be of interest to you guys. FDNY is offering a free hour long CPR to  go course.

The Department will offer CPR training to the public at both Department Facilities and participating New York Sports Club locations throughout the five boroughs. Everyone who completes the training will receive a free, transferable week-long pass to NYSC for you or a friend.

The program is designed to teach you how to save your Family and Friends.  The course does not provide certification.

As part of the class, you will be asked to pledge to give back by sharing your knowledge with five other people. To help you do so, you’ll get to take home your CPR training kit, complete with an inflatable training doll and training DVD in English and Spanish.
